Proceeding from scientific research, it is in the erection that the main cause of hemorrhoids lies, and therefore only people can suffer from such a disease. But in fact it turns out that hemorrhoids in dogs can also be. Neither the correct center of gravity, unlike the human, nor the movement on the four limbs, is a 100% insurance against this unpleasant disease. The reality is that despite all scientific treatises, veterinarians still have to diagnose inflammation of the hemorrhoidal node in dogs.
Why do dogs develop hemorrhoids?
This disease in pets is an extension of the veins that surround the anus. This condition can be localized both on the inner part of the rectum (it is called internal hemorrhoids) and outside in the region of the anal ring.
The main causative development of this disease in animals is stagnation and as a result - hemorrhoidal veins are not fully released. The veins become clogged, and their patency is greatly reduced. After there is a decrease in the tone of the venous walls and, as a result, the formation of seals - cones. If we talk about this in plain language and compare the vessel with the rubber hose, then if one part of it becomes thinner, then under certain pressure the thin wall will puff up like a bubble. Blood stagnating in the vein, more and more stretches its walls, they become thinner and once, do not withstand the load, which leads to the formation of cones with bloody contents.
Such a condition can arise for various reasons, whether it is, like a person, a sedentary lifestyle, or unsuitable food for dogs. It is worth a closer look, what leads to the appearance of hemorrhoids. The main reasons are as follows:
- food - non-compliance, overeating, foods high in fat;
- excess weight;
- excessive physical activity, heavy loads;
- insufficient walks, lack of training and exercises on the site;
- violation of the hormonal background;
- deficiency of vitamins and microelements ;
- Dry food containing components that the dog's body can not digest, such as legumes;
- absence in the body of water and salt balance, dehydration.
Experts recommend that those who are going to start a four-legged friend, pay special attention to the selection of the puppy's diet. Stressful situations, changing the feeding time, transferring from one feed to another can provoke water balance malfunctions. In most cases, the change in hemorrhoids in puppies occurs during active growth and the formation of muscle and bone tissue, this period falls on the age of 4 to 7 months.
In addition, severe neglected helminthic invasions have a negative effect on the activity of the stomach and intestinal parts and metabolic processes, and this, in turn, leads to the development of hemorrhoids.
Signs of hemorrhoid formation in dogs
If you compare the symptoms of hemorrhoids in different kinds of domestic animals, for example, dogs and cats, then in both cases absolutely identical conditions manifest themselves without distinction. Most often the owners of the dog identify the following:
- feces change their consistency, become more dry;
- anal opening hyperemic and swollen;
- in feces appear clots of mucus and blood;
- the animal can change the gait.
In the latter case, the animal can rub against the hard surfaces, which in most cases is associated with the presence of helminth parasites. In fact, with hemorrhoids, the dog, thus, tries to eliminate the itching sensations.
It is not enough just to suspect the presence of the disease in the pet, it is worthwhile to turn to specialists to make a full diagnosis. Only an experienced veterinarian will be able to tell if the pet is bothered by the inflammatory process in the hemorrhoidal veins, or the reason lies in something else. After all, often hemorrhoids in dogs after the study is herniated, rectal prolapse or inflammation of the anal glands.
Treatment of hemorrhoids in dogs
On closer examination of the methods of treating hemorrhoids in dogs, they, in fact, do not differ at all from those used for hemorrhoids in humans. Therapy is also based on the revision and adjustment of the pet's diet:
- from the dog's menu, products that provoke constipation are removed;
- added food rich in fiber, which has a beneficial effect on digestion;
- preference is given to easily digestible dishes.
Such measures help to rid the dog of difficult bowel movements and reduce inflammation in the anus.
To prevent the dog from suffering constipation, you can regularly give it as an additive castor oil. The daily rate is calculated based on the weight of the pet.
To speed up the healing process, you should often drive a dog for long walks, visit with him special areas where the pet could show its activity. When the dog moves, the body naturally stimulates the outflow of blood from the formed hemorrhoids.
As for the medicinal treatment of the disease in dogs, the same drugs are used here as for the treatment of the disease in humans. To eliminate bleeding, the pet is given hemostatic suppositories - Relief, Procto-gliwenol. To eliminate venous insufficiency, venotonic agents are prescribed-Detralex, Flebodia-600, Venarus. They must be given to the dog along with the food.
Useful are rinsing and syringing of the rectum with an enema with broths of medicinal herbs, except that not every dog will agree to such a procedure. But even in this case it is possible to treat the anus with useful solutions, hygiene in this case is very important! Contaminated inflamed areas can cause inflammation to spread to other areas.
Until now, among doctors, and not only, there are disputes in the effectiveness of folk recipes for hemorrhoids. But, nevertheless, their correct application, with respect to dosages and cooking rules, definitely yields positive results. Therefore, the bath and tincture in the disease can be used and pets.
For the preparation of trays from hemorrhoids, you can use the following herbs - calendula flowers, burdock root, St. John's Wort, yarrow, sage. The most powerful anti-inflammatory plant is the chamomile pharmacy.
The baths have several advantages over other methods of treatment:
- When hemorrhoids are most often used cold baths (you should expect that the temperature of the solution should be 3-4 degrees lower than the temperature of the body of the pet), which significantly reduces swelling and reduces hemorrhoids.
- Virtually none of the medicinal herbs have only one property - most of them act as antiseptics, hemostatic and anesthetics, many of them contribute to the regeneration of damaged tissues. Such a complex of actions allows much faster, and without harm to the body, to save the pet's body from an ailment.
In the fight against hemorrhoids, sea buckthorn oil has proved to be well (experts recommend using a medicine to avoid the risk of penetration to affected areas of bacteria). It is an excellent antiseptic and can quickly heal cracks in the hemorrhoidal veins. Use it simply - soak a cotton swab with oil and place in the anus of the dog. I must say that such a remedy is especially effective at the beginning of the development of the disease.
In addition to drug therapy and folk remedies, sometimes you have to resort to surgery. This usually happens in the late stages of the disease or in certain complications.
Most often, local anesthesia is used, the diseased animal is excised by skin and mucous areas. If the pet shows great anxiety, aggression, it is possible to use general anesthesia.
The veterinarian pulls the base of the inflamed knot and completely removes the focus of infection. If required, rehabilitation therapy is used, but most often without it. With the correct operation, the dog is restored quickly enough.
Such a method, although it bears certain difficulties, fully protects the pet from relapses of the disease. Caring for proper nutrition and activity of the pet, the owner of the dog will protect it from the onset of hemorrhoids.
